Can students receive credit while studying abroad?
Students receive academic credit for studying abroad. For a Winter Break Course Abroad, students earn 3 credits. Over the summer, students can earn from 3 to 9 credits. For a semester, students earn between 12 and 18 credits; and, if a student studies abroad for an academic year, they can earn 24 to 36 credits. Depending on the students curriculum, those credits may count towards a major, as electives, or as general education requirements. Students should discuss their plans to study abroad with their academic advisor to make sure they are making progress towards their degree.
