Can students compete in both the American Indian and the ND State Science Fair competitions?

No. He or she should decide which track they’d like to compete in for a chance to compete at International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). If a Native American student competes in the American Indian fairs, he/she will represent the Indian Nation at ISEF rather than represent North Dakota. If he/she decides to compete at the regionals and the ND State Science and Engineering Fair at NDSU, he/she will represent North Dakota at the ISEF. Some teachers have asked if their students can compete in both tracks to gain more experience in presenting, but the ISEF track rules do no permit this option. However, students who compete at the American Indian fairs are welcome to observe the 2006 North Dakota State Science Fair in order to see who they will be competing against at the ISEF. NDSU also welcomes such students in the tours of the campus and local businesses.
