This is a tricky question. Students can choose to co-write a book, but only one Young Author per book is allowed to attend the Illinois State Young Author Conference. This means that if the book is selected to represent the school district, a decision regarding who would attend the Illinois State Young Author Conference would have to be made by the two students. This is a state rule rather than a rule from the McLean County Unit 5 School District.
