Can Sto Watertight Coat be used for negative side foundation waterproofing?
Negative side waterproofing refers to the application of waterproofing on the interior of foundation walls. Often, application of an interior waterproof coating can be more practical than excavating the exterior and applying waterproofing to the outside walls. Sto Watertight Coat has been used successfully for negative side waterproofing. However, extreme storm conditions and/or poor foundation drainage conditions can cause excess negative side pressure to develop which can adversely affect performance by causing loss of adhesion, blistering or bubbling of virtually any waterproofing material. For this reason we always recommend positive side waterproofing as the best performance alternative. If negative side waterproofing is chosen, the degree of success may vary with the severity of the condition.
