Can Sto repair products be used to patch spalled concrete?
Yes, Sto Corp. has several high quality cementitious patching materials. The decision on which product to use depends upon thickness of repairs, whether horizontal or vertical, what kind of mechanical and chemical exposure is expected and if the repairs are structural or non-structural. For example: A balcony repair in a coastal area where the excess salts/chlorides in the air has caused corrosion of the reinforcing steel, which in turn has created cracks and spalls in the concrete. In this situation, all exposed steel must be thoroughly cleaned and then protected with Sto Bonding and Anti-Corrosion Agent followed by Sto Trowel Grade Mortar.
