Yes, Sto Gold Coat would normally be applied to the sheathing surface first, and then the rough opening can be protected with rubberized membrane. Note, splice strips of rubberized membrane at head flashing and starter track are not as effective as Gold Fill with Detail Mesh because the rubberized membrane makes a lip which water must flow over should water get to the membrane edge. Also note that many adhesives will not adhere properly to rubberized membranes, so those areas would require mechanical attachment of the EIFS.
