Can standard A/V Cable work for Progressive Scan ?

I’m pretty much sure that my TV supports Progressive scan, I’m connecting my DVD with my DV using Standard A/V Cables 3 Cables for Video Signal and 2 for Audio. Can Progressive Scan work resembling this or it needs some special Cables.
