Can spring peas be grown in the early garden here in the Roanoke region?

Every time I try to grow peas in my spring garden, the weather turns hot before the pea pods form. A: Try growing spring peas varieties with a lower “time to maturity” given on the seed packet. Or, you can sow peas in August in Roanoke for the fall garden, so that the flowers and then the pea pods will be forming as the temperatures get cooler.
