Can SOT be done impromptu, or is there preparation involved?
It is not always easy to say what constitutes ‘impromptu’ magic. You can perform the original version of ‘Out of This World’ anywhere, at any time, with a deck of cards and about 30 seconds preparation. Does this make it ‘impromptu’? Some would say yes, others no. Even if a trick can be done with everyday items (e.g. coins) and no set-up, you would still need to ‘prepare’ by putting in the time and practise needed to master the moves and presentation. So let me try to answer the point as best I can.
