Linda, as much as our hearts go out to the child needing the bone marrow, the general concensus of opinion is to not give any parts or pieces of our bodies to anyone else because the risk of infection is not clearly known at this time by the persons who should have the answers by now. The American Red Cross does not accept blood from Lyme patients. No one would want to inadvertedly give this disease to anyone else and there are yet too many unknowns. One way you could help is to offer assistance with other needs of the family or child. Perhaps gathering video tapes the child might enjoy, or reading aloud, etc. Sometimes just the touch of a hand can convey a powerful message of hope.
