Can someone who is currently undertaking qualifications be funded as a registered nurse with specialist roles under the Initiative?

The person may only be funded as a registered nurse with a specialist role once the qualification had been achieved. None the less, if a panel identifies a local barrier which requires a nurse that has the specific skills and knowledge to address that barrier, but does not meet the qualification requirements, a proposal should still be submitted to the Department. This will allow the Department to assess each proposal on a case by case basis and focus on addressing local needs with the Panels Initiative. Divisions are asked to clearly identify the specific skills that the nurse will be providing to the panel, and how that will address the barriers within their local area.
