Can someone who doesn?t work at the University of Newcastle get access to Blackboard?

Yes. People doing University work who are paid by an organisation other than the University are classified as Affiliates. Affiliates work at the University on a contractual basis and, as such, their staff account and computer access is also on a contractual basis. An Affiliate registration form needs to be filled out and submitted to IT Services to request that a staff account be created. The form is available here. Once the account has been created, and the user has accepted the appropriate terms and conditions and activated their Groupwise email address, a Blackboard account will be created. The new staff user id can then be added to any Blackboard course via the User Management menu of the Control Panel.
