Can someone tell me the reputation of Trek bicycles?
Treks are good bikes. You see a lot of them on the road for the same reason that you see a lot of Toyota and Honda automobiles in the US: lots of people perceive them as good values and reliable. Trek has the best network of dealers and authorized repair shops. Downsides: You will pay a bit more. Also, because Trek uses a lot of in-house Bontrager parts that aren’t used on other brands it can be difficult to make apples-to-apples comparisons. You really can’t go wrong with buying a Trek, but you might be able to get more for your money. Giant has always had the reputation for very good value. I just bought one myself. Even if you fall in love with a Trek bike, you should test ride at least one other brand as a reality check, even if it is just to validate your decision.
