Can someone tell me how to add power to my 69 6 cylinder 250 Mustang ?
I know that I’m in the minority with this answer, but you did ask what you could do to get more power out of a 250 6cyl. Any engine can be modified for power, and a six is no exception. In fact the stock car circuit in the early 50s was dominated by 6 cyl Hudson Hornets, but enough of the history lesson, and on with the answer. The key to engine modification is to get it to breath. You can install headers, and a different carburetor but you won’t see much of a change. My suggestion would be to install a performance camshaft. I would recommend an Iskenderian 262-Supercam. It has an advertised 262° duration and 0.445″ lift. It should work well in a mustang application. At this time, it may also behoove you to remove the head and have the valves ground.
