Can someone tell me how Babe Ruth was better than Josh Gibson?
Obviously, Babe Ruth is much more famous than Josh Gibson. Only real baseball fans would know about Gibson. Still, it’s almost impossible to say who is the better hitter. I’ve seen sources that claim Gibson hit over 800 homeruns in the N*egro Leagues, and other sources that say he hit about 120. There is no way to know the truth since the record keeping was shady at best. This is one of those things that can be debated for eternity without any consensus. It is just a shame that guys like him never got to play in the majors. I will add however that Ruth reportedly once saw Gibson play an exhibition game at Yankee Stadium. Gibson hit a shot estimated to be about 550 ft, and Ruth was quoted as saying that Gibson was the best hitter he ever saw. Unfortunately, I can’t remember where I read that, and have no source to back me up, but I do remember reading it somewhere.
