Can someone tell me about slavery in United stated state?
It was used since the original 13 colonies up until after the U.S. Civil War. The Emancipation Proclamation declared all slaves to be freed from the southern states, thanks to Abraham Lincoln. The Civil War itself was not based on freedom for slaves, but it was based on conflicting cultures of the North and South and the radical political parties. After Lincoln passed out the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil War became a war to free the slaves and to restore the Union. Slaves mostly worked in the South and many worked on plantations for at least 16 hours a day. Slaves mostly came from Africa. While slavery was outlawed after the Union defeated the Confederacy, many former slaves ended up becoming farmers and sometimes, indentured servants since many didn’t know any other ways to survive.
