Can someone tell me about MBT shoes?are they good for trekking or for protecting knees?
1st, lets start by saying that there are MBT and MTB shoes, and they are very different. MBT are a brand name and not a dedicated bicycle shoe. They are a rocker soled shoes and are a love hate item. You love them or hate them. Unfortunately there’s no way to know beforehand which it will be. MTB shoes are mountain bike shoes that are designed for cycling. They have stiff soles with some tread. They have a depression in the sole so that a cleat (SPD type) can be attached but still allow you to walk. Because the sole is stiff, walking is fine for short distances such as walking around a supermarket but not for a longer hike. If you are prone to knee pain, then the best type of pedals are: 1. Platform which allows complete freedom of movement 2. Clipless pedals with lots of float aka side to side movement. a. Newer SPD pedals allow moderate float and make sure you get the multi release cleats b. Speedplay Frog pedal are the undisputed kings of float while keeping you attached. I have per
