I used to manage a movie theater (it was years ago) and we tried one of the coin sorters available back then and it was junk, too. The really good ones like the banks use are extremely expensive, usually costing over $1,000. If you want to take a look at some of those, check this page out: http://www.pbsoffice.com/coincounters.htm You’ll notice the cheapest one there is around $500. If you want a quality sorter, you’re going to need something like that. We had to deal with a lot of coins and we were a very busy theater, but instead of going with one of those things we just went with a simple plastic manual sorter. It wasn’t perfect, but it sped things along. My suggestion is to go either high-end or go with the simplest one you can find. Something like this one: Coin Sorter Item #: 474374 $6.19
