The Neon Bible is good and I remembered thinking how it had parallels to Catcher. Of course, it is not at all the same story, but is about a youth in crisis, both literally and metaphorically. Interesting thing is that it was a lost novel for many years. It was written by John Kennedy Toole, the author of A Confederacy of Dunces (1980 Pulitzer Prize), who killed himself in 1969. He wrote The Neon Bible when he was 16. Yes, he killed himself in 1969 buit his book wasn’t published till 1980 thanks to his mother. Considering his age when he wrote The Neon Bible, it is a really remarkable book. If you have never heard of it, and most people haven’t, check it out. I bet you’ll like it.
