Can someone please recommend some books on Socrates and Plato?

Socrates never wrote anything himself. We know about Socrates through the writings of Plato, primarily, in his Dialogues, but also through the Memorabilia of Xenophon, the works of Aristotle (Plato’s student) and a play by Aristophanes called `The Clouds’. Other, later, writers drew on these works and others now lost to us for their views on Socrates. Book-length commentary on both Socrates and Plato may be found in any book store or library under Philosophy or Ancient Greek Philosophy. The writers I would suggest would be Cornford, Bloom and Long, respectively. On-line one of the most insightful commentaries you’ll find is by Bernard Suzanne (I’ll put the link in Sources) and another is C.G. Boeree (I’ll list that as well). Enjoy………
