Can someone please explain to me about polar and non-polar molecules? Thanks?
Polar molecules such as water are made up of elements with varying electronegativity (wants electrons) so when you put a highly electronegative element like oxygen with hydrogen (not very electronegative), the oxygen pulls the electrons away from the H’s. So one side of the molecule has more electrons; therefore, the molecule has a negative charge on the oxygen side and a positive charge on the hydrogen side. a molecule that doesn’t have opposite charges is non polar like hydrogen gas H2.
