It does vary from state to state but this is the traditional US system: Nursery or Day care Pre-School or Head start (ages 3-5) Elementary School (ages 5-12) Junior High School or Middle School (ages 12-13) High School (ages 13-17) College (17+) High school is broken up into four years: Your freashmen year (9th grade), sophomore year (10th grade), junior year (11th grade) and senior year (12th grade)
