Can someone list 5 types of epithelial tissue and relate their structure to their function?
The types of of the epithelial tissues depend on its location, I think. There are no specific name/term to differentiate them (or at least that I know of since I only learn basic biology at school). They are the epithelial tissue at the: a.) surface of the skin and linings of the mouth and oesophagus. •Form a *protective barrier* against infections, mechanical injuries, chemicals and dehydration. •Regulate body temperature. b.) lining of body cavities, heart, blood vessels and lungs. •Line the alveoli if the lungs and form the walls of blood capillaries. •The *thin*, *flattened* and *arranged in one single layer* cells (many cells = tissue) allow the exchange of gases between alveoli and the blood in blood capillaries to take place more effectively. c.) lining of the small intestine. •Absorb nutrients after digestion is completed. •Undergo modification to form *goblet cells* which secrete mucus into the digestive tract. d.) lining of glands, ducts and kidney tubules. •Certain epithelia
