Can someone help me with “the lady and the tiger” story?
The title is actually “The Lady OR the Tiger”. It is for the reader to decide which choice the princess made. Her lover is a man whom her father, the King, deems unsuitable for his daughter; thus, the lover is arrested. The story stresses the barbaric nature of the King as well as of his daughter. The King chooses as the fate of the imprisoned lover that he enter an arena where the Princess will have the option of selecting either of two doors; behind one is a ferocious and ravenous tiger who will tear the young man to pieces; behind the other is a gorgeous woman to whom he will be happily and lavishly married, lost forever to the Princess who is familiar with the woman and jealous of her. So, which door will the Princess choose? Will her love for the man be strong enough to overcome her jealousy so that she will allow him to live, or will her jealousy be so overwhelming that she would rather see her lover torn to bits than to be happy with the other woman?
