Can someone give me instructions on how to replace a power steering pump for a 95 Chevy Caprice?
First find your power steering pump. Remove anything that is in the way of taking the belt off of it, remove the belt (you might have to loosen up a tensioner or something). Unplug any wires, and remove the hydraulic lines from the pump – they make special wrenches for the fittings – you should borrow or buy some. It looks like a normal wrench, it wraps almost all the way around the fitting – so you will actually have to slide it down onto the fitting rather than than from the side. This keeps from damaging the fitting. Once you have everything off of it, simply unbolt it, take it out – put the new one in, and do everything in reverse. Make sure to take notes, mark wires/hoses etc. – maybe even take pictures so you will know how it goes back together. Make sure to do it right – because you do not want your power steering failing. It never hurts to pick up a manual for your car – haynes makes really good ones with pics and detailed instructions for doing just about anything to your car.
