Can someone give me info on keeping mice as pets?
Mouse urine smells much more than rat urine. It’s horrible. The larger the home they have, the less they smell. The larger the home, the less likely they will get territorial and hurt eachother or bite you. They aren’t mean, but they do take work to tame and they can be fast runners. Use only an unscented paper-based litter, not any sort of wood chips. Wood chips can be toxic (red cedar), cause respiratory upsets in small pets and even sensitive people, don’t absorb as much wee, don’t take away smells and need to be changed more often. Cellsorb, Yesterday’s News (unscented only) and Carefresh are acceptable. The more they have to do, and the more exercise they get, the happier and healthier they will be. Also, they live longer with space and exercise! The males have noticable testes hanging down, but the testes draw inside when they are afraid sometimes, so observe them carefully. The best is two or more females, since they don’t fight as often. Purchase a book on mice as pets before y
