Can someone give me a summary of what the play Antigone is about?
I could try to give you the summary, but there are too many things that are critical to the plot. Here is what I can come up with: Antigone is the daughter of Oedipus and his mother, Jocasta. Both of them are dead, and her uncle, Creon, rules Thebes. There has just been a war between Antigone’s two brothers about who is to rule Thebes. Both of them died, but Creon left the brother who attacked Thebes, Polyneices, unburied. Antigone went against the law and buried him anyway. Creon then sentenced her to death, despite pleas from his son, Haimon, to whom Antigone was to be married. Creon decides to lock up Antigone in a cell and let her starve to death, so the gods do not blame him for it. Tiresias, a blind seer, arrives to tell Creon that he is wrong. Creon decides to free Antigone, but he is too late. Antigone hanged herself. Haimon killed himself because he loved her. Haimon’s mother killed herself because she had recently lost her other son, as well. Now, Creon can do nothing but wee
