Can someone give me a summary of chaos theory?

Chaos theory is actually more of a mathematical theory than anything else, it says that you can’t predict the outcome of any system that contains a cyclical component without exact knowledge of starting conditions, and that from this a seemingly random complexity can result. The best example of this is a spinning asteroid. Say you went to this spinning asteroid and measured how fast it was spinning and put a marker on it and called that the front. Then say you came back to it ten years later and with your previous measurement tried to predict which direction it was facing. Chaos theory says you will be unable to accurately predict the direction it is facing, as however accurate you measurements were the first time you went to the asteroid, they will not have been exactly correct, as there are always more decimal places, and each time the asteroid completes a revolution that inaccuracy is added to the total inaccuracy. With each revolution your prediction becomes increasingly inaccurate
