Can someone file for domestic abuse protection or divorce on Terri Schiavo’s behalf?
JC from Colorado asks: I was wondering why someone couldn’t make the Terri Schiavo situation a domestic abuse case and seek a temporary protective order against her husband or maybe file for divorce on her behalf. Jay answers: Actually, divorce proceedings were filed on Monday, but the trial judge, without much of an argument, dismissed those immediately. Jim Henderson from our office is in touch with David Gibbs — he’s the primary attorney down there handling all these Florida issues — and we are looking to help any way we can on that front. I will tell you this, I’ve also been in contact with David this week, and I’m distressed that this judge just threw it out completely. I think that was absolutely wrong, incorrect.
