Can someone explain trombone (brass) mouthpiece sizing to me please?

12C doesn’t particularly mean anything. It is just a number given to a mouthpiece that has a particular size and shape. 12C is common because it is practically the 1st trombone mouthpiece anyone will start on. But anyways the numbers just designate the size and shape of the mouthpiece. It also helps to identify what mouthpieces there are and to us. As the number goes up or down, the size and shape are different. Each different model number has its own sound and characteristic. The letters on the mouthpiece are something that is a slight variant on the original model. Meaning a difference is made but is so small that It is still within the size. The “Cs” are more common upon trumpets. Why they chose C i dont know.
