Can someone explain to me why the moon doesn have an atmosphere but Mars does?
The moon does have an atmosphere, albeit a very thin. The moon is too small and lacks a magnetic field to retain a denser atmosphere for any long period of time. Mars is larger, with a larger gravitational pull, and can retain more atmosphere than the moon, however, the lack of a extensive magnetic field means that the planet has now lost most of its atmosphere.
