Can someone explain to me uplift stage aqnd block faulting the book is not making it clear…?
One way to understand it is to think of it this way…. Imagine (or go ahead and make the model yourself) a bunch of blocks (like babies play with that have letters and numbers on them) sitting on a rug. The blocks would be in just one layer, but sitting against each other (i.e., tightly packed together). Now push the rug up against the wall. As you push the rug, it will bunch up forming hills and valleys (i.e., just like mountain belt). Now look at the blocks on the rug. Some have been pushed up higher and some have dropped down lower than the rest. This is what the block faulting stage will look like.
