Can someone explain to me the difference between Communism and Socialism?
Previous answers reveal some aspects well enough, but simply communism is extreme socialism. Communism prescribes all property is owned “in common” and is typically controlled by government authority. Socialism is the control, and formally also the ownership “in common,” of the “means of production.” Essentially that would mean land, resources, and industries. If that sounds like a good idea understand neither has worked as intended. The problem is they require dedicated citizens willing to work hard and get less than they would under capitalism. Most citizens must surrender some of what would be their gains for contributions to those who cannot produce enough for their own sustenance, along with what is require for administration. Few people prove freely willing to do that and in practice many cheat or drag their feet. Honest, dedicated administration is also required.
