Can someone explain the principle of tough love in the treatment of alcoholism?
Tough love is also ‘you have to be cruel to be kind’ With respect to alcoholism, it means being strong and not giving that person alcohol even when they beg you. It means being their conscience, their balance, their parent, and their friend. You have to basically help them function while they learn how to again. This is tough love because they will want alcohol, and you have to stop them.
