You will plug the ethernet cable that is currently going to your desktop into the “WAN” or “Internet” port of the wireless router. Then plug your desktop into one of the “LAN” or “local” ports on the wireless router. This will give you internet access on the desktop. You will configure your new router with the included software, make sure you set wirless security. Your laptop will then tell you there are wireless networks available, you will be able to connect to your wireless router by entering the password you set when you turned on the wireless security (above). The exact methods vary from router to router. Personally, I’d recommend a buffalo router, or linksysy if you live in the US (buffalo can’t currently sell products in the US, otherwise, they are definitely the best for the money.)
