Can someone exlapin to me in there own words teh additive solour theory and the subtractive colour theory!!?
Our eyes have receptors for red, blue and green. With these kinds of colour receptor we can sense millions of different colours. Subtractive colour theory has the primaries red, yellow and blue; secondaries colours green, purple and orange made by combining 2 primaries. However you are talking about shining a light and looking at what reflects back, so additive colour theory is more appropriate here. Additive colour primaries are red, green, blue (yes the same as the receptors in our eyes, not a coincidence); additive secondaries are yellow, cyan and magenta (same colours used as transparent inks in full colour printing, once again not a coincidence). Magenta is made by adding red light to blue light, note that green is missing. Therefore if you shine a magenta light onto a green coloured object, there is no colour of light that the object can reflect back, so it appears black.
