Can somebody quote me an example where attempts are made to conserve a culture?
Indian Reservations in the United States are an example. It wasn’t the best effort at preserving the culture, and was more a forced containment without the preservation of culture as a consideration, however by forcing tribes on to smaller parcels of land and having them live together it did preserve some portions of the cultures and had the opposite effect on other parts of the cultures. Preserved : Religious beliefs / ceremonies, languages, traditions Negatives : Poverty, alcoholism, dependent on government instead of being self sufficient. There are some tribes that thrive now but that has a lot to do with accepting modern ways, legalized casinos on reservations and has nothing to do with the preservation of ancient cultures.
