Can somebody please help me save my homemade tomato sauce?!?
IF YOU LIKE YOUR SAUCE QUITE CHUNKY. ITS OK BUT IT WILL TAKE LONGER TO THICKEN UP, GO TO THE STORE AND BUY , ABOUT$20.00 OR LESS AN IMMERSION BLENDER, OR SOME CALL IT A STICK BLENDER, ITS A BLENDER YOU STICK RIGHT IN TO THE [POT AND PUREE EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE. THIS WILL HELP YOUR SAUCE COOK,AND LOOK BETTER WHEN SERVED. ADD SOME TOMATO PASTE, SPICES, SUGAR AS NOTED IN THE OTHER REPLIES AND LET IT SIMMER , NOT BOIL FOR AWHILE IN YOUR CASE, PROBABILY ABOUT 2 HOURS, THEN COOL AND FREEZE IT, OR LEAVE HOT AND BOTTLE IMMEDIATELY. FYI… PLUM TOMATOES DO NOT HAVE AS MUCH ACID IN THEM AS DO REGULAR TOMATOES, IF YOU ARE CANNING THEM, ALSO THE BALL (COMPANY NAME, AS IN BALL CANNING SUPPLIES)BOOK CALLED THE BALL BLUE BOOK , AVAILABLE AT MOST LIBRARIES IS AN EXCELLENT SOURCE FOR CANNING INFO.. ADDING THE SEEDS TO YOUR SAUCE IS A GREAT SOURCE OF FIBER AND BETTER FOR THE SAUCE.
