Can somebody explain to me basic guitar chords ?

Hi Smoochy, I learned chords before scales, but had no direction so just did what worked for me at the time. You probably already know that the major chords are A – G, but B and F are the most difficult positions for most people, so you might want save those for last. I started with D and A since they are fairly simple and worked on changing back and forth between the two until I mastered it and then added another and so on. Keep in mind that finger position is important for economy of movement. For example, A on the second fret can be played with three different finger positions, so use the one that works best for your comfort and/or the song you’re playing. (The repetition can be a bit boring, but that’s just part of practicing). It would be a good idea to learn the related major scale of each chord you’re practicing if you want to do solos. Once you’ve mastered the major chords, I would suggest working on minors and sevenths and then you can play so many songs it’ll blow your mind.
