Can some1 help me understand the politics after alexander the greats death?

Alexander died in Persia and by that time he ruled the entire area from Greece to the borders of India including Egypt, Syria, and Afghanistan (the Kurds could be descendants of his troops.) Each of these areas were ruled by a local leader under the supervision of the Macedonian governor (Alexander’s general) appointed by Alexander. Upon Alexander’s death, each of his generals grabbed land where they could and formed their own dynasties. The best example was Egypt where Ptolemy, one of Alexander’s generals was the ruler at the time of the death. He went on to found an Egyptian dynasty in his name which lasted well into Roman times. Cleopatra was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty and a descendant of Ptolemy. When she died, the dynasty died with her. Other conquered areas did not fare as well when the native people who hated the Macedonians for the brutality of their conquest, rose up and drove the foreigners out of their lands.
