I have a 2000 vw jetta and don’t have a key for it and dealer said only they can make it. I saw whole bunch of pre cut keys so i was thinking some store can cut it for me. Just maybe someone did it before and please let me know if the key will start the car or only the one that dealer will make!!! Thanks A: No, the dealer is right. Those keys have chips in them that need to be synced to your car so that it will only work for yours. They can be quit pricey but it really is the only option.
