Can soldiers benefit from lower TDY Lodging rates in Sierra Vista?
Just the opposite. As the GSA lodging per diem increases, so do the benefits to the soldier. Military accommodations with extended stays are becoming more attractive to the hotel industry especially in current economic times. Rate increases allow older hotels to remodel and maintain a safe and sound environment for their guests. Lower rates may benefit the government but as we have seen on the battlefield, lower rates come at the cost safety and even death.
