Can small systems consolidate systemwide Advisory Councils with program Advisory Committees?
No. The Councils and Committees serve very different purposes. While some discussion may be similar, systemwide goals and objectives are different than program goals and objectives. The advisory committee should be used to assist the program teachers in creating a relevant program by actively seeking advice and directions from qualified member of the community. While the role of the advisory council deals with the direction of all career/technical programs within the system, the business people on the council or committee provide vital links to community resources and to knowledge and information that may otherwise be unavailable.
