can silver particles be melted in a crucible with a natural gas bunsen burner?

Answer Dear Ashley, I sure hope I can help with this. My use of a Bunsen burner is limited to many years ago. However, I do know about melting silver and will try to give you a useful answer. Fair enough? The melting point of silver is 961.78 C, 1763.2 F. The best I can tell from various reports is that the temperature produced by a Bunsen Burner, Natural Gas/Air flame perhaps can reach 1500c, 2732f and likely less in actual use. The temperature is there to melt silver but do you have enough total heat to do the job? I have not tried it and do not know. I am also concerned about control of the flame. You see, melting in a crucible or dish by flame requires the flame to come from above, down into the melting dish and onto the metal. The dish is not heated like a pot on a stove from below. The burner may act like an air/fuel gas torch but with much more limited control. We can routinely melt smaller quantities of silver with a torch using natural gas and oxygen(not air).
