Can Severs disease be prevented?
Sever’s disease is a condition that affects the heel during childhood. It is also known as calcaneal apophysitis and was named after J.W. Sever, because he was the first to describe it back in 1912. This painful condition is particularly common in those children who participate in a lot of repetitive activities such as athletics, for example. Although there are a variety of treatments available for managing the condition the only way to really prevent it is to avoid the repetitive activity involved.
