Those answers can be found in Army Regulation 40-501 “Standards of Medical Fitness”. For the most part normal childhood illnesses like mumps, measles, chicken pox are not a problem but need to be noted on the SF93 “Report of Medical History”. Other physical issues like broken bones or illnesses that have been treated and pose no continuing medical problems are not disqualifying. There are a litany of medical and psychological conditions that are, or potentially are disqualifying. Certain conditions which might disqualify you at the time of your physical can be revisited upon medical documentation from the doctor who treated the problem. Medical waivers are sometimes possible but with the present economy the military has a large pool of recruits from which to choose. BTW- 40-501 is the authority for enlistment into all branches of the military as the Army runs the majority of enlistment centers. Best of luck.
