Can scholarships be combined?
Yes, but state and federal guidelines for combining scholarships and other financial aid require that the total not exceed an amount defined as cost of attendance. The cost of attendance includes not only tuition, fees, room and board, but may also cover other educational expenses such as books, travel, personal expenses, study abroad costs, and a computer allowance. The exact amount varies on an individual basis.
A student may only receive one UA Fort Smith scholarship at a time; however, you may combine other financial aid such as outside scholarships, Pell grant, and student loans. There are federal and state guidelines for combining scholarships, as well. No amount of aid of any kind can exceed your “Cost of Attendance,” which is set by the school.
