Can schizophrenia caused while on daily Wellbutrin (300mg) be permanent after discontinuation?
Have you been diagnosed as scizophrenic? Or are you just assuming? Wellbutrin, like any other psychiatric drug, can cause hallucinations and other psychotic symptoms that ARE NOT schizophrenia. Schizophrenia has all sorts of other symptoms like thought distortion, flat mood, etc. So just because you are hallucinating does not mean you are schizophrenic. If you are experiencing hallucinations, you need to go to your doctor immediately and start coming off of Wellbutrin. Then you can see if your symptoms go away. If they do, they were caused by the medications. If not, then you will need to be evaluated to see what the other causes could be – schizophrenia is only one of them. Schizophrenia also has related disorders which are less severe, and may be triggered by drugs or stress, but then go into remission. So even if you have a schizoid disorder, you may go into remission when you go off Wellbutrin. The bottom line is that you need to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.
