Can Rishi Veda Vyasa Be Considered As The Founder Of Hinduism???
Even before formal Revelation of vedas hindu dharma existed >>> Hinduism (known as Hindū Dharma in modern Indian languages)is a religious tradition that originated in the Indian subcontinent. In contemporary usage Hinduism is also sometimes referred to as Sanātana Dharma (सनातन धर्म), a Sanskrit phrase meaning “eternal law”. Hinduism is the world’s oldest extant religion, whose earliest origins can be traced to the ancient Vedic civilization. A conglomerate of diverse beliefs and traditions, Hinduism has no single founder. Hinduism contains a vast body of scriptures. Divided as revealed and remembered and developed over millennia, these scriptures expound on theology, philosophy and mythology, and provide spiritual insights and guidance on the practice of dharma (religious living). In the orthodox view, among such texts, the Vedas and the Upanishads are the foremost in authority, importance and antiquity. Other major scriptures include the Tantras, the sectarian Agamas, the Purāṇas and
Vivekananda says that Hinduism is a religion which believes in Vedas. Vedas means ‘Real Knowledge’. Vedas state the spiritual laws which govern the universe, they inform us the spiritual truths. They also give us the way to achieve Self-Realization. As you know these Vedas are without beginning and end, it may seem absurd to many but these Vedas are nothing but Spiritual truths and laws, which have no beginning as they are ever existent truth. Hinduism is a Religion which does not have any Founder, because it is a religion of Vedas. It depends on beginningless endless spiritual truths. Hinduism has had many many prophets, but it depends on not one prophet or all prophets. Hinduism depends on no one person, but on Spiritual truths. You may think of it as a religion, you may not, but I can say that it teaches how to live a life, how to reach the goal.So there is no particular founder of religion as truth is ever existent.
I don’t think that not having a founder makes it not a religion-that’s just silly. I’m not sure Vyasa can be considered the founder anthropologically speaking-he likely codified the works that already existed much like Hesiod did in Theogony and Works and Days. The religion is likely to be far older than the Vedas.
