Can Rick Rubin resurrect ZZ Tops career?
I went to a ZZ Top concert 2 weeks ago today. The show was sold out, a 5,000 seat theatre. They have loyal fans and put on a really good show for 3 men in their mid-60’s. I think their most recent CD, Mescalero, was excellent. Their true fans don’t care about hit records. Will Rick Rubin get them a hit CD or song, I think not. Their previous record company wanted them to make a CD with guest stars on each song, like the Carlos Santana CD from a few years ago. They said they wouldn’t do it and are off that record label.
